I can't believe that this is Isla's last month as a baby. Aren't they considered toddlers when they turn one? Crazy! This happened fast. Yet, at the same time, it seems like a lifetime ago that we welcomed our beautiful girl into our home.
Isla is a girl always on the move. She wants to be right next to Connor at all times. This causes drama. He doesn't want her to touch his toys and a lot of the time, he doesn't want her next to him. But she is always there. And she can crawl at lightning speed when she wants to.
Isla still is a content baby, that is, until you try to take her away from her mama. I kid you not, this girl is attached to my hip. She does this thing where she acts like she wants someone to hold her, then as soon as they go to grab her, she turns around and puts the death grip on me. It is funny and at times exhausting.
Nights are still a struggle with Isla. There are nights she sleeps all the way though. Those nights are few and far between. Much of the time, it isn't like that. By morning, I am begging for help, so Ian will take her to get coffee at 6am. I am told she smiles away at everyone and the coffee shop owner said she is the only baby that makes him want another one...he obviously doesn't know what she is like at night! But that smile, it is what keeps me going.
Foodwise, Isla will eat pretty much anything. I really have been blessed with such non-picky eaters. I can give Isla a whole apple and she will go to town on it. I just have to remove the stem, or she will try to eat it first. Which reminds me, she really still is in the everything in her mouth stage. Especially paper. I don't know what it is about paper, but the girl loves the extra fiber!
Some of my favorite times with Isla are when I nurse her right before bed in the evenings. We sit in the rocker in her dark room. It is just her and I. It is special. Of course, it is hard to top her cuteness when I am holding her and she waves at people or randomly starts clapping. I swear this child just oozes with cuteness.
Pretty, pretty girl! Enjoy the last "baby" month.
